FLEUR’S FIND COLUMN BY FLEUR MAINVILLEAndy Flinn and Ariana Nasr are a Nova Scotia-based musical group that provide their audience with compelling and interactive live performance. They will be making a special stop in Pictou County this Saturday at the New Glasgow Farmer’s Market.

Andy Flinn is of Danish and Swiss decent, was born in Canada but grew up in Switzerland. Andy has an incredible beat boxing style of mouth music and is the lead percussionist for the group.  With a background of fronting rock bands, Andy’s knowledge of different languages and well-travelled soul make him a very gifted songwriter.
Ariana was raised in an Afghan Maritime home in Halifax, where she mastered the saxophone at a young age and has since developed into a wonderful violin player. Ariana’s love of jazz and rock and her passion for songwriting have allowed her to become a dynamic world fusion musician.

The duo’s newest album Eye to Eye was released in April 2013. This is Andy and Ariana’s ninth release and was produced and engineered by the musicians themselves. Eye to Eye features a collection of new original songs with the group labelling their style as “gypsy-soul, jazz-folk” being driven by a diverse collection of musical experiences and influences. The listening audience is immediately put at ease by a musical duo who have been playing together for over 15 years and who share a passion to make great music! Eye to Eye is a combination of spoken-word-style lyrics with a mix of jazz, Nova Scotia Celtic, reggae, and a whole lot of fun!

This Saturday in Pictou County you will have two chances to catch Andy and Ariana. They will be making a very special appearance at the New Glasgow Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon to celebrate the launch of their latest CD as well as an evening performance of superb music at The Stone Soup Cafe in Pictou located at 41 Water Street in Pictou at 7:30 p.m. For reservations please call 485-4949.
